NPP MP Calls Noisy Aspirants To Order

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Upper Denkyira East, Nana Amoakoh, has called on all those making noise about their presidential ambitions in the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), to direct their energies, time, and resources into telling the people what they can do to champion the cause of the party, and stop accusing each other. As a result, Nana Amoako has appealed to colleague members and supporters of the party to concentrate on strategies to wrestle power from the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), which he described as incompetent. Speaking to The Chronicle in an exclusive interview on Wednesday, the Upper Denkyira East Legislator stressed that it is always important not to gag anyone regarding ones ambition, but cautioned that it is proper that one chooses words with decorum and respect. According to him, the flagbearer does not win an election, and suggested that the party work towards winning more parliamentary seats to ensure that the NPP wins the Presidency to form a government. The issue is to go to the grassroots and get the people to vote and win, he pointed out, and said, it is also important to go to the constituencies that the party lost and see what they can do to win those seats back, and stop talking about Nana Akufo-Addos age and other irrelevant issues. Nana Amoako cited the case of a former US president, who was 72 years on assuming office, and President Jacob Zumah, who is also 72 years, not forgetting President Mugabe of Zimbabwe, who is 90 years. I am, therefore, appealing to the so-called factions to close their ranks and fight the common enemy to win power and get Ghanaians out of the economic mess they are currently facing.
