Be Careful Of Fraudsters NSS Warns Service Personnel

Mr. Ambrose Entsiwah Jnr, the Public Relations Officer of the Ghana National Service Scheme (NSS) has admonished prospective tertiary students for the 2014-2015 national service year to be wary of fraudsters and persons who pose as agents of the scheme. He gave the warning to students after some final year tertiary students who pleaded anonymity at the Ho Polytechnic and the University of Ghana revealed to The Ghanaian Times, that they have been approached by some persons who posed as agents of the scheme, with assurance to post them to their preferred organizations with monetary demands. But Mr. Entsiwah Jnr, later told The Ghanaian Times that, his outfit did not employ agents to oversee posting of students to their preferred organizations, and stated categorically, national service postings are not for sale. He warned students not to pay money to anybody for the purpose of national service posting, nor rely on people who claim to be agents of the scheme, as his outfits would not be held responsible should any student be swindled. According to him, application for national service is solely done on the organizations website and not through any agent. He said registration for this years national service is currently ongoing and would end in June and postings are expected to begin in early July. Mr. Enstsiwah Jnr said that, all tertiary institutions nationwide have had a pre-service orientation, and personnel are directed to consult district and regional directors of the scheme should they encounter any challenge in their registration process. He asked students who are desperate for connections to big organizations, to desist from such acts, urging them to accept and be ready to service the nation in every sector they are posted to. Mr. Entsiwah Jnr. reminded students that, the service was a national requirement, for young Ghanaian graduates, and the certificate were needed in accordance with the provisions of the law, for employment purposes.
