Households To Receive Gas Cylinders

The Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District of the C/R. is on track distributing 3000 LPG cylinders, cooking stoves and other accessories to households. Prof. Thomas Akabzaa, Chief Director of the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum who performed the official launch, said the Rural L.P.G. promotion programme was the brain work of President John Mahama. Prof. Akabzaa said the Rural L.P.G. programme was aimed at increasing the consumption of LPG, thereby curbing deforestation and protecting the environment. He said A.E.E.D. was the third out of the 216 District Assemblies to benefit from the programme after Ga Rural and Tano South District Assemblies and advised recipients to put the equipment to good use by continually re-filling the cylinder to make the system safe and efficient. Prof. Akabzaa said the Ghana Cylinder Manufacturing Company (GCMC), Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Ltd. (BOST), National Petroleum Authority (NPA) and the Energy Commission had been directed toensure constant supply of gas to refilling points. Mr. Peter Light Koomson, District Chief Executive for the area, said the distribution would be fairly done.
