The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Reverend Francis Amenu, has reiterated his call on Ghanaians to demonstrate high spirit of nationalism towards the restoration of the country to the desired economic footing and social status. He said the current trend of apathy and unwarranted criticism among the people is detrimental to the country�s sustainable growth and development. Rt Rev Amenu was speaking in Tema at a thanksgiving service to climax the four-day maiden synod of the newly created E.P Church Meridian Presbytery. The occasion also witnessed the inauguration of the Presbytery as well as the induction of Rev Dr Major Bliss Agbeko as the Presbytery�s Synod Moderator and eight other executive members into office. Rt Rev Amenu urged Ghanaians to be guided by the passion of one nation with a common destiny and rally behind the Black Stars in prayer as they embark on the World Cup tournament in Brazil. He also entreated Christians serving in leadership positions to submit to the Holy Spirit to guide them in the discharge of their duties to avoid falling prey to wrongdoing. Deputy Minister of Petroleum and Energy, Benjamin Dagadu repeated calls on the Church to intensify its evangelism crusade in curbing the high incidence of indiscipline and moral decay in the society. He expressed worry about the challenges confronting the energy sector and appealed to Ghanaians to be modest in electricity consumption so as to conserve energy and save the country high operational cost.
