Asaasie Gyimah Sets Record Straight! ... On Abokobi Lands

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Odwuma Lakes Farms and Estates Development Limited, Asassie Gyimah, has rebutted claims that he has illegally taken over some parcels of lands from the Odartey Sro family of Abokobi. In setting the records straight, Assasie Gyimah supported with documents said portions of the said 15 acres he was alleged to have forcibly taken over, was acquired by Adicopa Farms but Adicopa abandoned it and the Odartey Sro family re-entered it and granted all to him after issuing a letter to Adicopa for negotiation . According to him, he had been the owner of the said land since 1985, untill 2005, when the family, out of the blue, brought a suit against Adicopa and obtained a judgment to legally re-enter the abandoned land. A document he handed over to this paper, which was written by Adicopa Farms Limited stated that by a Farm lease dated 14th May 1982, it acquired a parcel of land from the Nii Odartey Sro family which lease was to run for ten years. However, Adicopa in 2005, made it clear to the Nii Odartey Sro Family that their interest in the land had expired, therefore renounced their interest in it. Meanwhile in a case involving Odwuma Lakes Farms and Estates Development Limited (Plaintiff) and Freeheart Delatse and Edzi Adzako (Defendants), the Court entered judgment for the Plaintiff on all its claims and dismissed the counter claims of the Defendants. Commenting on that particular suit, Asaasie Gyimah noted that he filed a case against the first Defendant who acquired portions of his (Asaasie Gyimah) land from the Odartey Sro family, after he flouted several warnings and court injunctions to stop developing the land. The judgement which was delivered on November 30th, 2010, by Justice Isaac Lartey-Young indicated that the plaintiff's title was declared for the land described in his endorsement writ and upheld that the plaintiff shall recover possession of the land from the defendants. The Court also indicated that, all defendants, their agents and privies were restrained from trespassing or interfering with the plaintiff's land. The Court noted that the defendant's Land Title Certificate which they tendered in Court to prove their case should be cancelled and expunged from the Register. According to Asaasie Gyimah the Judgement given by the High Court has not been appealed against and that he still holds title to the land. He therefore provided his Land Title Certificate, with No. GA 27638 as evidence of the fact that the said land in contention which the Odartey Sro Family is claiming to belong to them, was legally acquired by him.
