Catholic Church Bans Invocation Of Curses

THE OBUASI Diocese of the Catholic Church has, with immediate effect, banned church members from indulging in the invocation of curses. Rev. Fr. John Alexander Asare, Dean of consultants of the Diocese, announced the banning order at a 3-day Conference of the Diocesan Women at Manso-Nkwanta in the Amansie West District of Ashanti Region. He said women are fond of invoking curses at the least provocation, which practice, he said, does not augur well for the members and the church. Rev. Fr. Asare appealed to church councils at the various parishes to ensure that the order was carried out to the letter. Father Asare, who represented the Metropolitan Archbishop of Kumasi, Rt. Rev. Gabriel Justice Yaw Anokye at the Conference, asked Christians in general to eschew what he noted as a bad habit and seek the face of God through the Holy Spirit with unceasing prayers to overcome problems. The Catholic priest also advised Christians to do away with hatred, cheating, bribery and corruption, and give out alms to the poor, sick and the needy in the crusade to win more souls for Christ. The District Chief executives for Amansie West and Amansie East, Messrs. Alex Kwame Bonsu and Mary Juatuah commended the Catholic Church for their support in the provision development projects in the areas of Health, Education and potable and urged the Church to keep it up. The DCEs appealed to Catholics to stop going for pray for me because it was not a common practice with the Catholics but rather have faith in the sacraments of the church to provide for their needs as Christians. As part of the programme, members of the Catholic Diocesan Women presented items worth about GH1,000 to the Manso-Nkwanta Health Center for the upkeep of the patients. The items included 20 pieces of Bed sheets, 10 pieces of Blankets, Rubber buckets and lanterns. The Physician Assistant, in charge of the Health Centre, Mr. Eleazar Nartey, who received the items thanked the Catholic Diocesan women for the kind gesture and urged others to emulate this shining example. Nana Owusu Achiaw, Manso-Nkwanta Dabehene and Nana Opiah Mensah, chief of Manso-Mim and Otumfuos Wirenpehene graced the Conference.
