Rev. Ocansey Calls For Unity Among Baptists

The Reverend David Nartey Ocansey, out-going General Secretary of Ghana Baptist Convention (GBC) has called for unity, commitment and dedication among members. Rev Ocansey made the call at the Send-Off Service organised at the Calvary Baptist Church by the GBC for him in Accra on Saturday.The Convention also celebrated Rev Ocansey achievement with the joy of the goodness of God and appreciated his commitment that had over the years seen the mission and its members through. The GBC will climax the celebration of the convention�s Golden Jubilee Anniversary on July 20 at the Black Star Square, in Accra which is on theme: �Celebrating the Past and Embracing the Future for Greater Kingdom Impact.� He called on the pastors and ministers of the convention to continue preaching the pure gospel as it is given to Christians from God. Rev Ocansey said without the support of member churches the convention would not have come this far. �I wish the Executive President and his team prosperity and God�s guidance as they lead the convention through yet another phase of life. �Rev Ernest Adu-Gyamfi, Executive President of the Convention said the convention over the years had witnessed the evolution of leaders who have influence its growth in diverse ways. The Executive President said the out-going General Secretary had achieved a lot for the convention and that one of the major achievements chalked out is the construction of the ultra modern office complex of the mission. He said the convention is working with a seven point strategic plan, which includes rebranding to make it visible, develop the internal human resource and to take care of retired ministers and pastors. �The plan is also to take local ownership of the convention, increase the financial base, enhance the spiritual based and spirituality of members, make committed to the convention core functions of evangelism and missions.� Mrs. Irene Wallace who worked as a Secretary to Rev Ocansey for nine years expressed joy for working with him, adding that �he was more than a father to me in the office�. She said Rev Ocansey is a true man of God as he gave every challenge that he faced to God. Rev Dr Edward Osei-Bonsu, a Senior Minister who has also worked with Rev Ocansey for more than 10 years extended a big thank you to him for the support and good work rapport shared by him.�It was too pleasant working with you and you will be one of the best colleagues always in my life,� he said.
