Lets Support The Needy To Get Education - Lecturer

A lecturer at the Department of English, University of Cape Coast, Mr Emmanuel Sarfo has called on people who are well to do to help the needy in the pursuit of education. He made the observation when his organisation, Sarfo-Kantankah Scholarship Scheme (SaKSS), donated 1,000 exercise books to schools at Wamfie and some pupils at Asuotiano, all in the Dormaa East District of the Brong Ahafo Region. Eight hundred of the books went to eight schools in Wamfie while 200 went to some children in Asuotiano. The basic schools that benefited from the donation include St. Michael JHS, S.D.A. JHS, Local Authority A, Local Authority B, Anglican JHS, Islamic JHS, Presby JHS and Methodist JHS. The Sarfo-Kantankah Scholarship Scheme (SaKSS) was established in 2010 to provide support for brilliant-but-needy students, especially females in the Dormaa East District of the Brong Ahafo Region. The scholarship scheme is also currently paying the fees of three senior high school students. Years ago the scholarship scheme also gave out 1,000 exercise books to schools in Asuotiano and Dormaa Akwamu. I have decided to establish this scholarship scheme not because I have money but because of the invaluable importance of education. Never be misled into thinking that I am a rich person. I only feel that if the poor were given assistance, encouraged and then helped, their rise to fame could be assured and faster than we can imagine. That is why I call on the richest among the richer, the richer among the rich, the rich among the poor, and even the poor among the poorer, the poorer among the poorest to help and assist each other for the betterment of our society through education, Mr Sarfo noted. Mr Sarfo reiterated that education is the key to success and anyone who gives education gives life. He encouraged, inspired and motivated other people to help younger and future generations to acquire education, since education is the most important asset that a society can bequeath its future generations. If our society cannot secure a place for its young people, the security of its own future cannot be assured. Forget not that on us the future does depend, he reminded all.
