He told the court that a few minutes after meeting the lady at the roundabout, the accused and other four men, now at large, arrived at the scene. The lady then accused him (complainant) of having had sex with her. At that juncture, the accused person and his four other accomplices attacked the complainant with knife and a pair of scissors, subjected him to beatings, and robbed him of his Samsung Galaxy S3 mobile phone, valued GH750, cash of GH235, drivers license, and non-Ghanaian national ID. Continuing, DSP Morkeh said the accused person and his accomplices, after robbing the complainant, pushed him to the ground and took to their heels. But, whilst they were escaping from the scene, witnesses in the case, all policemen who were on a duty at a bank nearby, spotted the complainant running after the accused and the other four, as he screamed for help. The witnesses responded to the distress call of the complainant, and arrested the accused person, whilst the rest escaped. A search on the accused person revealed a stolen mobile phone belonging to a student, and a pair of scissors hidden in his pocket. The complainant identified the pair of scissors retrieved from the accused person as one of the objects they attacked him with, after which the accused person personally removed his mobile phone and money. The accused person was later handed over to the police at the Kaneshie District Headquarters, where a report was made, and the complainant issued with a police medical form for treatment.
