Head Of State Awards Slated For June 20

The Second edition of the Head of State Award Gala and the eleventh Gold Awards ceremony will be held in June 20 at the Banquet hall, State House in Accra. The Awards, being sponsored by Tullow Ghana limited, is on the theme Celebrating the contribution of corporate institutions to youth development. A statement issued in Accra on Monday by Mr Peter Akai Anum, Executive Director of the Awards Scheme, and copied to the GNA, said the theme reflects the vision to acknowledge corporate institutions playing major roles in promoting youth development. It said it was also to recognise the diverse corporate social focuses of Corporate Ghana, as a contribution to youth development and Ghanas economy as a whole. The statement said the awards were to bring more corporate institutions on board to help challenge and equip many young people, to develop positive altitude and engage their communities as responsible citizens. Thirty seven (37) young people will be celebrated for their involvement in civic life, health and well-being, educational attainment, social inclusion, gender empowerment, environment and sustainable livelihood for the last one year in their communities, it added. The Head of State Award Scheme, Ghana, is a member of the Duke of Edinburghs International Award Foundation that engages young people in exciting self-developing programmes worldwide. It provides leisure time activities and a rewarding agenda that fills the gap left by formal tuition and equips young people with life skills. It also builds their confidence and engages them with their communities to make a difference in their lives and the world at large.
