Six Robbers Arrested In Wa

Six suspected armed robbers who ran amok in a village and were alleged to have robbed a drinking bar of the day�s sales at gunpoint have been arrested by the Wa Police. The suspects allegedly shot one person in the leg in a separate incident. The suspects � Nurudeen Hamida, Danda Faisal, Abdul Kwaku, Issahaku Abass, Ibrahim Sumaila and Ibrahim Nasiru � are currently in police cells pending further investigations, following which they will be arraigned. According to ASP Edmund Nyamekye, Staff Officer and the acting Public Relations Officer for the Upper West Region Police Command, about 9 p.m. on Saturday, May 31, the gun-wielding suspects attacked a drinking pub at Poyentanga in the Wa West District and made away with eight mobile phones, GH�3,300 that was collected from their victims, an unspecified amount of the day�s sales and crates of drinks. He said upon investigations and a tip-off, the police managed to arrest the suspects. ASP Nyamekye said just at the time of taking their statements, the victim of the shooting incident, one Adams Abdul Rahman, in the company of three others, walked in to lodge a complaint. He said it was at the police station that he saw and identified Ibrahim Nasiru, one of the six, as the one who shot him, while one other person also identified Nurudeen Hamida and Ibrahim Sumaila as members of a gang that took part in a robbery the previous day.
