Fear Grips BECE Candidates Over Wrong Index Numbers

Sixteen candidates of the ongoing Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) from Akuse Presbyterian Junior High School in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality of the Eastern Region risk having their entire exams papers cancelled as index numbers provided by the West African Examination Council differ from the ones registered and provided by the school. The situation created a dilemma between the affected candidates and the supervisor at the Akuse Methodist Senior High School examination center for minutes as to whether the affected candidates should use registered index numbers provided them by their school or those of WAEC. However, upon further consultations, the supervisors advised the affected candidates to use the index numbers provided them by the WEAC to write the exams, with the assurance that the anomalies would be reported to the exams body for a decision to be made to avoid cancelation of their entire papers. This development has created uneasy calm among the affected candidates. Speaking to the Daily Heritage, the candidates called for immediate assurance from WEAC as to what their fate would be before day two of the exams to clear the fear that has gripped them. The Eastern regional director of education, Adriana Kandelege who was at the exams center with the deputy Eastern Regional Minister, Mavis Ama Frimpong to tour some of the BECE centers assured the affected candidates that the problem will be fixed as a report was being sent to WEAC to take not for rectification.
