Kaneshie Market Women Mad @ Thieves

MARKET WOMEN at Kaneshie (first light) are accusing thieves for unlawfully breaking the fence wall under the footbridge, to continue their dirty activities. Speaking to the DAILY HERITAGE, Vivian Koranteng, a trader said the passage used to be small, but suddenly has become spacious enough for pedestrians to use instead of the footbridge. And she believed that the passage was created by the thieves to get easier access to the other side of the road. We have tried to advice people to use the footbridge instead of the passage, but you know how it is with humans when you try to teach the right thing, she added. Kwaku Sekyere, a pedestrian said that using the passage instead of the footbridge is convenient for him, because it is time delaying when he uses the footbridge. Maame Abena, a 32-year-old trader sited a situation where a woman between the ages of 20 and 23 was knocked down by a vehicle as a result of using the supposed shortcut. On his part, one Obeng, a commercial driver noted that "I will advise that pedestrians should restrain from using the passage, because it is not the best, I will not stop if I knock down somebody with, I will definitely drive away because a footbridge has been provided, why would you set up your own death trap? I do not think anyone will blame any motorist if he or she knocks someone down. He said. The traders appealed for urgent intervention by way of fixing the damage. "The attitude of some of our leaders is that they always wait for something irreversible to occur before they will approach the situation. The only thing they know how to do best is to tour cities and districts when an alarm is raised, they should change because it is not helping the country at all."
