The Akatsi North District Assembly and the Member of Parliament would organize a red-carpet treat, including a dinner, for the three top candidates in this year's Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE). Mr James Gunu, the District Chief Executive, announced the package when he visited some examination centres in the district on Monday. He urged the candidates to enter the examination halls with confidence rather than fear. Three top candidates last year were awarded scholarships sponsored by the Assembly and the MP, Mr Peter Nortsu-Kotoe and are now in senior high school. Mr Gunu urged the candidates to strive to be the best countrywide, and win the prizes reserved for excellence. Mrs. Kate Nutsuga-Mikado, District Director of Education, urged the candidates, especially the girls, to work hard to qualify for the packages this year. Mr. Nortsu-Kotoe, urged the candidates to be well composed and give good account of their nine-year basic education.
