PRIOR TO the commencement of the Basic Education Certificate Examination on Monday, the assembly member of Klowe-Koonaa electoral area within the Ledzokuku-Krowor municipality Robert Okoe Odiko, has distributed examination materials to the candidates worth over GH1, 000.00. In all, a total of four schools with candidates numbering 200 are the beneficiaries of the assemblymans gesture. The schools include; St. Peters Anglican school, Henry Preparatory, Senajoy International Preparatory and Edwinter International schools. Speaking to DAILY HERITAGE after the exercise, the assemblyman expressed his gratitude to Seth Badu Tawiah, the municipal chief executive for LEKMA, and the traditional chief of Klowe-Koonaa, Nii Otu-Kwei, (Abekunane Mantse) for their support. He told the paper that this was the second time she was distributing such materials to candidates. Last year, I distributed to a hundred and twenty-four candidates, this year, I have distributed to two hundred candidates, I am optimistic that this years performance will be above average as compared to last years results. Mr. Odiko touching on why he has been distributing such items to candidates annually said he realised that some of the candidates needed these materials to be able to write their final examinations, adding that, some parents could also not afford to provide these to their wards. Some of these students are very intelligent, and all that they need is encouragement, if this is achieved, then it will help them in a big way to always encourage the students especially the final year students to study hard for them to be able to become great and influential men and women in the society, assuring, I will also continue this gesture every year to support candidates whether I am in or out of office. The school prefect of Anglecan Preparatory School, on behalf of the beneficiaries expressed their appreciation for the support rendered to them by the assemblyman. He however assured him that they will do all they can to ensure that his effort does not become a mirage.
