Minister Encourages BECE Candidates To Finish Hard

Mr. Paul Evans Aidoo, Western Regional Minister, has encouraged candidates of the on-going Basic Education Certificate Examination to continue to exhibit discipline and commit themselves to hard studies, to ensure that they perform creditably. He urged them not to relax after writing the Mathematics and Integrated Science papers, which most students dreaded. Mr. Aidoo gave the encouragement during a visit to some examination centres at the Naval Base, Fijai, Takoradi Technical and the Takoradi Senior High Schools on the third day of the BECE. In the company of the Minister were his deputy, Mr. Alfred Gyan, Mr.Augustus Cleland, Regional Education Director, Captain Rtd Anthony Cudjoe, Metropolitan Chief Executive and Mr. Franklin Dzigbede Metropolitan Director of Education. Mr. Aidoo was happy about the smooth-running of this year's examinations describing it as incident-free. Mr. Cleland said logistics for the examinations also came in on time, and lauded supervisors and invigilators for the good work they were doing. At the Takoradi Senior High centre, one person was reported dead with one girl pregnant. Mr James Dadson, Centre Supervisor also mentioned that two boys were absent. The centre has over 1,000 candidates writing the examinations. Mr Winfred Pahar, centre supervisor at the Naval Base, said 273 candidates from seven schools, are writing the examinations.
