Kumasi Military Hospital To Be Completed In 36 Months

OUTGOING DEPUTY Defence Minister, Ebenezer Okletey Terlarbi has stated that the contractor working on the Kumasi Military Hospital has been urged to expedite work on the project for completion within thirty six months instead of the original forty-two months period. Mr. Terlarbi noted that the contractor was encouraged to aim at executing an average of four percent of work per month with the hope that it would reduce the original time frame to thirty six months. �In the contact, the project is to be completed within 42 months. However, at last site meeting held on Wednesday, June 11th 2014, the contractor was encouraged to aim at executing an average of 4% of work per month,� he noted. Answering a question on the floor of Parliament yesterday on when the Military Hospital project would commence, the Deputy Defence Minister said the contractor has already taken possession of the land and started real work. He stated that �the contractor took possession of the land on March 28th 2014 and real work started on May 1st 2014. As at now, site offices have been erected and cranes are being erected at the site.� In addition, �settings for the administration block, OPD building, Mortuary building and the Incinerator have been completed. Excavation and buildings for the listed buildings are about 60% complete.� According to him, the Kumasi Military Hospital project comprises a fully-equipped 500 bed Military Hospital with 154 units of residential staff housing and ancillary facilities at Afari land. He also assured members of the House that before the contractor took over the land, issues of compensation with the land owners have been worked out already. The Minister further assured the MPs that the quality and cost of work would not be changed although the time period had been brought closer adding that there was a committee in place to ensure quality of work.
