Mother Poisons Son

The Bibiani township in the Bibiani-Ahwiaso-Bekwai District of the Western region was thrown into a state of mourning when an 18-year-old mother of one Obaa Yaa was alleged to have poisoned her two-year-old son, Yaw Frank. Doctors at the Bibiani Government Hospital told the father of the deceased, Kofi Adu, that his son who was staying with his mother at Old Compound vicinity was dead on arrival, sending him into a state of uncontrollable wailing. According to the doctors, Obaa Yaa must have administered wrong medication on her son leading to his untimely death. However, the police in the area have refused to investigate the bizarre death as Kofi Adu did not consent to an autopsy fearing a huge a cost at the hospital. Reports indicated that Obaa Yaa is now at large as she fears she could be attacked by her divorced husband and his family. Speaking to this paper, Kofi Adu explained that he had been living with the late Yaw Frank since he and Obaa Yaa were divorced. According to him, her divorced wife asked that her son be brought to live with her for some time. The two-year-old Yaw Frank died three days after staying with his mother. The bereaved father continued that he expected the police to arrest his former wife. But indicated that the police has since the incident shown no interest in arresting her. That, Kofi Adu, explained, was because the police say they do not have enough evidence that his former wife poisoned little Frank. The police said before they can make any arrest there would have to be a post mortem to ascertain what exactly killed my son. But they also said we would pay more money for the post mortem so I should let go and not pursue the case, he said amidst sobs. Kofi Adu also said the only evidence he could have used to prove that his son was poisoned was the remainder of the supposed medicine given to his son which resulted in his death. But strangely the doctors at the Bibiani government hospital have also refused to give it to me, Kofi Adu told Today.
