Bimbilla Murder Is A Betrayal Of REGSEC - Minister

Following the unfortunate attack of the Bimbilla Naa palace which occurred on the night of June, 19, 2014 in Bimbilla and led to the murder of Naa Dasana Andani, the Northern regional Minister, Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna has said the incident came as a shock and betrayal to the Regional Security Council (REGSEC). According to the minister, REGSEC had engaged the two sides of the chieftaincy deadlock (Naa Salifu Iddrisu and Naa Dasana Andani family respectively) in several meetings since March, with the last one held on May 30, this year to discuss the way forward. Addressing the press in Tamale, the Northern regional capital at the Regional Coordinating Council conference room, the Northern regional minister said �We are determined to pursue the perpetrators and we will not shield anyone who would be found culpable in the investigation.� He condemned the heinous crime and said the act was completely unprovoked in no uncertain terms. He described the situation as shameful, cowardly and a complete retardation of the progress �we had made in restoring peace in the area and the region at large,� he added. He hinted that the security agencies are serious with their investigations and working hard day and night to ensure that all the perpetrators of the act are fished out and made to face the law. He further disclosed that through the vigilance of the security agencies and cooperation of the general public, nineteen people have been arrested and said efforts are being made to apprehend or arrest more suspects believed to be connected with the crime. He said, �The District Chief Executive of the area and the District Commander of Police are invited to the National Security Secretariat to assist in the investigation of the matter.� Mr Limuna during his address appealed to the general public to volunteer information that can assist in arresting the culprits. He also appealed to the media to be circumspect in their reportage on the unfortunate situation and endeavour to cross �check any information they come across from the relevant agencies before giving them out to the public. After the press conference, the minister led the government delegation to Bimbilla to ascertain at first-hand, information on the ground and also to console the family of the late Naa Dasana Andani. The government delegation was led by the Minister of Defence, Mark Woyongo, the Inspector General of Police, Alhassan Mohammed, the Director General of police and some supporting staff from the national security.
