NDC Aspirant Pledges To Build Capacity Of Treasurers

An aspiring National Deputy Treasurer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Alhaji Mohammed Mashood, has pledged to build the capacity of all officers of the party who hundle funds and financial issues. He said he would attain this goal by organising series of workshops and training programmes to equip the officers to carry out their duties. He said when given the nod, he would use his position to liaise with party executives to institute a culture of getting all members of the party involved in financial matters to ensure transparency, which would enable them to own the party. Aspirations Alhaji Mashood, who spoke to the Daily Graphic about his aspirations, said he would also use his experience as the Upper East Regional Deputy Treasurer to communicate effectively with other treasurers so that they would not only be in charge of dues that members paid to the party, but also take charge of all party properties within their various regions and constituencies. Being a treasurer is not about taking dues. It includes taking charge of all party properties, be them stationery, vehicles, and other things within ones constituency so we will be able to have a record of all party properties, he said. When that was done, he said treasurers of the party from constituency to regional levels would be proactive and more efficient. He, therefore, appealed to the delegates of the NDC to give him their votes at the upcoming NDC Delegates Congress. Political career Alhaji Mashood served as a cadre during the early days of the revolution and later graduated to be an executive member of the party at the constituency level in the Upper East Region. His conviction and dedication as an executive member won him the admiration of party members and he rose again to become the regional executive member of the party. During his tenure at both the constituency and regional levels, he collectively instituted the sale of party cards, which hitherto were given out for free. This was to help raise funds for the party at those levels and also make those branches independent of the mother body when it came to the issue of finances.
