A houseboy has been arrested for allegedly stealing from his employer five days after he had been employed. The 21-year-old man, Emmanuel Appiah, is alleged to have stolen money and some personal effects of his employer, Mr Leslie Lawson. Mr Lawson reported to the police that the suspect had stolen $1,025 and GH�700. Other items which were detected missing in the house after the houseboy had gone into hiding included an HP laptop valued at GH�750, a Samsung tablet, three mobile phones and two bags. A call from an uncle The Dansoman Divisional Police Crime Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Mr Godfred Ferdinand Amengor, said Mr Lawson had told the police that he had employed the houseboy through a friend on May 2, 2014. However, five days after Appiah had lived with his employer, a man who claimed to be an uncle of the houseboy called Mr Lawson. The said uncle claimed he had just returned from Nigeria and wanted Appiah to come and live with him. �So the employer sent him to the said friend, since that was where he had secured the services of the house hlep ,� Mr Amengor said. Items retrieved Later, Mr Lawson detected that his money and some items were missing. The case was, therefore, reported to the police. On June 22, 2014, Appiah was spotted and arrested at his hideout at Kyebi in the Eastern Region. During interrogation, the police said Appiah admitted the offence. The police said Appiah claimed the money was used to rent a room in Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo Region. A search in the said room led to the retrieval of some of the items and GH�900. Later, Appiah led the police to retrieve the HP laptop from Tesano in Accra.
