Take Administrative Measures To Bear Payment Of Salaries - Haruna

Mr Haruna Iddrisu, Minister of Trade and Industry, has tasked the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA), to take administrative measures to bear the payment of their salaries on or before June 30, 2015. He said the GSA has the capacity to be on its own, to perform its administrative obligations. GSA plays a critical role in the conformity assessment of the country, and therefore must be able to support itself administratively, to position the country and the port on a high pedestal, he said. Mr Iddrisu made the call on Wednesday when he inaugurated a six-member GSA board, and charged it to take immediate steps in addressing challenges of the port on adjustment in policy direction, planning objectives and operational strategies to achieve the mandate of GSA. The Board members include Mrs Victoria Addy, Chairperson, Professor George Y.P Klu, Mr Hayford Kofi Nimoh, Mr Godwin Adagewine, Ms Mabel Apaloo and Dr Goerge Crenstil. Mr Iddrisu urged the Board to practically take charge of ensuring that whatever is exported meets minimal standards outside the country. He challenged the board and GSA to venture into the measuring areas of the oil and gas sector, to promote the countrys development. Professor George Y.P Klu, on behalf of the Board, thanked the Minister for the confidence reposed in members, and called for collective efforts and co-operation of members to achieve set objectives.
