59 DSP's graduate from Police college, Winneba

The Minister of the Interior Mr. Kwesi Ahwoi has noted that Government will continue to support and resource the Police to confront challenges in the execution of their core duties to bring total sanity to society. The Interior Minister stated this at a graduation ceremony, where 59 Deputy Superintendents of Police, undertook a five week intensive Junior Command Course at the Ghana Police Command and Staff College, Winneba. The graduates, being the first batch, were taken through topics such as Overview of Criminal Investigations, Docket Management, Organizing Conferences and Events, Rules and Conventions, Leadership and Emotional Intelligent and Information Communication Technology (ICT). According to Mr. Ahwoi, the government would continue supporting the Police Service and other Law Enforcement Agencies in the country by improving on infrastructure and logistics and also ensure that they are well trained to meet the challenges of contemporary policing and law enforcement trends. �As you may all be aware, the Command and Staff College has been rolled on the GETFUND to support its operations of which funds have been approved and the first phase of such support will be used for the construction of an academic block. The Minister said, whilst the government is doing all that it could to ensure that the Service is better equipped to perform its duties effectively, the good people of the country expect them to also fulfill their part of the contract by ensuring their safety and security. Mr. Ahwoi, entreated the graduates to remember that receiving certificates does not signal the end but rather the beginning of a longer journey, adding that, their work should be enhanced and enriched after being in the college. He asked them to continue learning to enhance their capacity to enable them to manage their jurisdictions appropriately and strive hard to be good and effective leaders, who collectively, with their subordinates, would use their knowledge, expertise, skills and networks to transform the society for the better. The Minister later congratulated the graduates and encouraged them to cooperate and share information in times of difficulties, �since no man is an epitome of knowledge� to ensure the sustenance of the confidence the people have in the service. The graduates later presented a three in one Cannon Printer, photocopier and scanner machine as well as a stabilizer to the college as their contribution towards the smooth running of the college. Earlier, the Inspector of General of Police Mr. Mohammed Ahmed Alhassan unveiled a plague to symbolize the handing over and inauguration of an 8 Unit accommodation block renovated by the Police Church at the cost of GHC40,000.00. The IGP urged the authorities of the College to cultivate the culture of maintenance to help prolong the life span of the building. Among personalities at the programme were Neenyi Ghartey VII, Paramount Chief of the Effutu Traditional Area and Nii Ephraim Effutu, Municipal Chief Executive.
