Lands Commission Clarifies Issues Over Adentan Lands

Mr Kwesi Bentsi Enchil, Chief Valuer at Lands Commission on Monday appeared before the Judgement Debts Commission to clarify issues over the acquisition of Adentan lands by State Housing Company. Mr Enchil explained that, the land was first acquired by the state in 1974, even though there were two amendments in 1991 and 1992. He said the 2, 68.99 acres of the land which was valued in 1999 at GH 21, 768, 112 belonged to the Agbawe Family. He, however, told the Commission that no compensation had so far been paid over the land as there were 32 other claimants. Nii Kpobi Asawa, Head of the Agbawe Family, who was billed to appear before the Commission with his lawyer to give further details on the issue failed to appear, and asked for reschedule of the date. The Commission, therefore, postponed the case to July 30. A representative from the Attorney Generals Department, who was also scheduled to appear before the Commission on the same issue, failed to do so and was rescheduled to July 30. The Judicial Secretary who was also billed to appear did not turn-up.
