Bagbin Deserves To Be Minister Of Govt Business Ephson

Managing Editor of the Dispatch newspaper, Ben Ephson has mentioned he would be very surprised if Kingsford Alban Sumana Bagbin is not made the Minister-In-Charge of Government Business in Parliament. According to him, failure to make him the Minister would confirm perceptions that he (Bagbin) and President John Mahama are still feuding. The Nadowli Kaleo Member of Parliament (MP), Mr. Bagbin, was Thursday confirmed as Majority Leader in Parliament following the re-assignment of Dr. Benjamin Kunbour to the Defence Ministry. Leadership of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), led by the party's General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia and the Majority Caucus in Parliament agreed to his appointment. Speaking to Joy FMs Newsnite Thursday, Mr. Ephson indicated that Mr. Bagbins selection seemed to prove his claim and noted that it would not jeopardize Mr. Bagbins election as Majority Leader and maybe, Minister of Government Business in Parliament. Mr. Bagbin allegedly labeled his colleague Parliamentarians in the August House as corrupt and therefore, a Committee was set up to investigate the matter. The Newspaper Manager further observed that the report into the allegation would not have any negative impact on the Nadowli Kaleo MPs selection. He said there was no way the report could be suppressed since the allegation Mr. Bagbin made was neither directed at the Minority nor the Majority. He believed because the Committee would be bi-partisan, Mr. Bagbin would not be shielded. I dont think if the Majority decides to protect their own, Minority would also decide to protect the Majority, Mr. Ephson emphasized.
