Kendicks Rejects NPP Secretary

The decision by the Western Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Dickson Atta Nketsiah, popularly known as Kendicks, to appoint a personal secretary to handle secretarial matters for him at the party regional office, has led to serious cracks in the party. Kendicks reportedly told close confidantes that he did not trust his regional secretary, Charles Bissue, hence his desire to appoint a personal secretary. Kendicks told The Chronicle via phone that because of his busy schedule, he does not often go to the party office and that there was nothing wrong with his decision to appoint a personal secretary to handle matters for him. The Chronicle has, however, been told that the decision to appoint a personal secretary has more to it than what Kendicks told The Chronicle. Intelligent reports picked up by The Chronicle indicate that the front of the party executives has been divided along Alan Kyerematen and Nana Akufo Addo camps. The incumbent Regional Secretary, Charles Bissue, has been branded as an Alan boy and, therefore, considered as a mole among the rank of the regional executives, who are also in the camp of Nana Akufo Addo. A party source further told The Chronicle that prior to the regional congress that elected the current executives, Mr. Charles Bissue was in the camp of Nana Owusu Ankomah, the former regional chairman, and an Alan Kyerematen ardent supporter. Unfortunately, Owusu Ankomah lost the chairmanship position but Bissue was able to sail through by winning the regional secretary position. The antagonism that greeted the regional election has still not abated, hence the current confusion in the party. Kendicks, however, denied during the interview that there was bad blood between him and the secretary, Charles Bissue, resulting in his decision to appoint a personal secretary. He added that he had a good relationship with the secretary and that there was no rift between the two of them. Charles Bissue on his part told The Chronicle in a telephone interview that he had heard his chairman had discussed with one Ayittey, where he (Chairman) claimed that he did not trust him (Bissue) and that he was going to appoint a personal Secretary to handle party matters for him. He refused to go into further details because he was going to raise the issue at the regional executive committee meeting next week. But a member of the NPP Communication group, Chris Larbi, who walked up to the offices of this paper, confirmed that indeed the Chairman was working to undermine the Secretary. According to him, when he heard of the decision by the Chairman to appoint a personal Secretary to handle party matters, he contacted the Secretary to verify the information. The Secretary, according to Chris Larbi, confirmed the information by the Chairman to appoint a personal secretary on the grounds that the Chair did not trust the elected secretary. Meanwhile, an NPP group in the region, which calls itself Accountability Forum of the NPP, have come out to confirm that indeed the NPP chairman and his team were plotting a coup to undermine the elected secretary. Chris Larbi, a Communication Member of the group, in a press statement asserted that Chairman Kendicks had since his election been pursuing petty interests that had the tendency of harming the party. In recent times he has shown that he can be a ruthless bully and that if you are a party person whose actions he sees as not satisfying his egocentric tendencies, he tries hard to crash you. The statement confirmed that the Regional Chairman indeed has said that he does not trust the regional secretary and as a result, he is going to ask his personal assistant to come and occupy a desk at the Regional Office and monitor the activities of the Secretary, how ridiculous.
