Groupe Nduom To Build Rail Lines From Accra To Western Region

Groupe Nduom (GN,) a multinational group of African and American companies, has expressed readiness to organise technical, financial and human resources to build efficient rail lines that will provide reliable and convenient train service from Accra through Central to the Western region. President and Chairman of GN, Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, disclosed this in an exclusive interview with Today. The initiative, according to Dr. Nduom, is part of Groupe Nduoms long-term infrastructural packages. we [in Groupe Nduom] will lead in organising finance, the technical-know-how and all other important aspects to ensure that an efficient and reliable rail system is built from Accra through Elmina in the Central region to Takoradi in the Western region, he divulged. Groupe Nduom is ready to work with government to ensure that we build an effective rail line and reliable train system from Greater Accra through Central to Western region, he added. Dr. Nduom went on to explain that the move will ensure an efficient and reliable train service from Accra to Takoradi in the Western Region. and for us in Groupe Nduom, Accra and Elmina will be important stops because the train service will take care of our administrative and industrial needs, indicated GN president. And to show that the Groupe is committed to the project, Dr. Nduom revealed that he has directed one of his managers to dialogue with the appropriate ministry to find out the prerequisites for such an enterprise. We know it is not a simple matter: there will be issues of land rights, funds and othersbut all these notwithstanding we [Groupe Nduom] think that it will be a good business venture for the Groupe to lead, Dr. Nduom maintained. According to him, the project when completed will offer modern and safe form of transportation for people to travel from Greater Accra through Central to Western region and connect with other railways that exist in the country today. One key sector that will benefit enormously from the project is tourism, Dr. Nduom added. He noted that since Central region is noted for its tourism potential, a reliable rail line and train service would boost the sector in the region. Personally I am looking for a train system in this country that is modern, spacious, convenient and has internet, food and beverages and other retail services, president of GN said. GN operates in Ghana, Liberia, Cote dIvoire, Togo and the USA and has business relationships in many other countries in Africa, Europe, Asia and North America.
