Ghana-Togo Border Re-Opened

The Ghana-Togo border has been re-opened to commuters after it was closed for several hours on Saturday. The closure was necessitated due to a clash between the Police in Togo and angry youth in a town called Kwadwoviakope. The Togo Police reportedly impounded smuggled premix fuel in the town but fierce resistance from the youth in the area resulted in the clash. A reporter in the Volta Region, Norbert King Akpablie told Citi News the clash forced the Togo officials to close their side of the boarder. But the security agents manning the Ghana border were unhappy with the decision taken by the Togo Police because no official notice was given and Ghanaians who had earlier entered Togo were unlawfully locked up. Traders and other commuters were prevented from crossing both borders causing a lot of inconvenience.
