Flings Owusu Agyapong, placed fourth in the Women 100 meters race at the Hampdon Park, Stadium in Glasgow. But it was good enough to push her through to the semi-finals. The United States of America (USA) based athlete, will be looking forward to pick a position in the finals in a bid to make a case for a medal. However, Owusu Agyapongs feat, makes her the only Ghanaian athlete to make progress in the first day of the athletics competition. Tim Abeyie made a time of 10.50secd in the Mens 100meters Heat Two to place third, whilst and Solomon Aful placed fifth in the same race, but their records were not good enough to push them to the next stage of the competition. In the womens 400m Heat Three, Vivian Mills made a time of 55.19sec, with his compatriot but both failed to make progress.
