NDC Ward Coordinators Disapproved Elections In Ablekuma Central

Five ward coordinators of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ablekuma Central constituency have expressed their disapproval of the elections of branch executives and said the exercise should be annulled. They told the GNA in an interview that the elections were contrary to the NDC constitution. They alleged that many party members in the constituency had also expressed disappointment with the constituency executives because of absence of collaboration and transparency in the recent branch elections. Mr Eric Amedume, Abossey Okai Ward Coordinator and spokesperson for the coordinators, Mr Sena Nfodjo, Laterbiokorshie, Mr Sabastian Blavo, Nmemeete, Mr Samuel Armah, Gbortsui and Mr Samuel Logosu, Manbrook, called for nullification of the elections and the return of the forms. They said if the right thing was not done they would advised themselves. Mr Amedume alleged that at the Abossey Okai Police quarters branch, Ayigbe Town (B), Nkrumah Flat (B) and Ojo (C) branches, the existing members and executives ignored and registration forms were given to people not known to the branches and the party at the ward level. He said in the Laterbiokorshie and Gbortsui wards were created without the knowledge of the ward coordinators. Mr Ameduma said the modus operandi adopted by the constituency executives was they divided an already existing branch into two and asked one halve to adopt a branch name or select an already existing branch member and gave out the register. He said the attitude of the constituency executives was recipe for disaster and confusion likely to degenerate into a legal tussle. As a result of their unpopularity, they have resorted to all kinds of tricks to remain in power and this would not work quite well for the party, he stressed. Mr Amedume said there were serious agitations and threats in these branches which would definitely mar the chances of retaining the seat if steps were not taken to nib them in the bud. Mr Francis Quarshie Plassi, Constituency Chairman of Ablekuma Central, said the NDC constitution allowed recruitment of more members, saying: What is wrong if the constituency executives recruit new members and created branches for them to organize themselves. He said everybody in the party was very important and nobody should make mistake to oust any personality, adding that: This is the time party supporters need to put aside their personal differences and help to ensure victory in the 2016 elections.
