The issue of Ghana�s bedridden economy will forever be an issue of concern until it is curtailed by the current Mahama-led NDC government. Despite President John Dramani Mahama�s vigorous effort to curb the economic hardship been experienced by Ghanaians in recent times, many believe the president is not making much effort. However, a renowned Ghanaian economist and 2012 Vice presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party [NPP], Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia insists that the president�s effort to reform the economy is rather creating problems for the citizenry. Addressing an enthusiastic crowd during Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo�s campaign launch at Akoto Lantey, a suburb of Accra in the Odododiodio Constituency, Dr. Bawumia opined that �The economic hardship is now unbearable and this government [NDC] led by President Mahama have proven that they can�t govern�. Adding that, �We manage economy to solve problems not to create problems. The cedi depreciation is due to poor management by the government�. He however appealed to the electorate to consider the leadership of Nana Addo as Ghana�s President in 2016 to solve the ailing economy with his [Bawumia] first-rate ideas as an economist and a vice president. �With the leadership of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and me, we will help solve the economy,� he said.
