Women Asked To Contest Positions In Up-coming NDC Elections

Former Deputy Upper West Regional Minister Abu Kansangbata has entreated women to contest for various positions in the up-coming NDC elections. He said vying for positions in the party will give them a better say when it comes to taking decisions. Mr Kansangbata made the call when he presented two bags of rice to members of Lordina Mahama Fun Club at Wa. The former Deputy Regional Minister had made similar donations to religious groups and NDC party youth activists amounting to several thousands of Ghana Cedis. He said women�s contribution to governance and the economy cannot be underestimated. He said government has not forgotten of them as it works to improve on the living standards of all Ghanaians. He cited the water expansion project for Wa and the tarring of the Sawla-Fufulso road as some of the major projects that will bring tremendous improvement in the lives of the people. He asked members of the Lordina Mahama Club to organize regular meetings and educate their colleagues on what the government is doing to address the economic challenges confronting the nation. The Chairperson of the Fun Club Madam Hadijatu Ibrahim expressed gratitude to the former Deputy Regional Minister for the gesture. Madam Hadijata said the donation will put some smile on the faces of the members as they seem to be forgotten of. She said members of the Club are not too happy because they are not involved in any activities. She called on members of the club to close their ranks and work hard to improve on the status of women.
