Fraudulent Award Of Judgement Debt Investigated

The Judgement Debt Commission on Tuesday began investigations into fraudulent award of judgement debt to one Daniel Kofi Adobo. Mr Dometi Kofi Sorkpor, Counsel for the Commission explained to the media that, Adobo, during the sitting of the National Reconciliation Commission (NRC) in 2001, appeared to inform the Commission that, his father by name Kofi Adobo was the owner of the Subin Timber Company which was confiscated by the state in 1982. He told the NRC that, his father before the confiscation of the company entered into a partnership agreement with an Italian businessman who invested 35 million Deutschmark into the company after securing a loan. According to Mr Sorkpor, Adobo was later awarded five billion cedis as compensation after taken the case to court but he demanded that, the company be de-confiscated rather. He said the Judgement Debt Commission has however discovered that the said Adobo is not the son and does not relate to the owner of the Subin Timber Company. He assured that even though the money was not paid to Adobo because he wanted to take over the company from the state, the Commission would investigate the matter to unravel the whole truth. Mr Assakkua Agambila, the Executive Secretary of the Divestiture Implementation Committee appeared before the Commission to give more details about the Subin Timber Company saga, but he asked that the case be adjourned to August 7, to enable him gather all documents. A representative of the Attorney Generals Department was also billed to appear over the same matter but it also called for an adjournment to August 12. A representative from the Ministry of Finance was to also appear to produce documents over transfers of money made to the Construction Pioneers but asked for an adjournment which was granted.
