The Co-proprietor of Circle of Life School in Sunyani, Brong Ahafo Region, Pastor Moses Asagbo, has urged parents and guardians to pay more attention to the education of special children in society. Pastor Asagbo also appealed to private and government schools to have a counselor for their schools in order to improve the lives of vulnerable children. He made the appeal at the inauguration ceremony of a two-storey building for Circle of Life School. The ceremony was dubbed �Quality Education for Every Child.� The proprietor, who also operates the Hanukkah Children�s Home, said the purpose of the establishment of the school is to promote the practical aspect of cognitive learning in order for the pupils to aspire to greater heights. He affirmed that a child could be disabled physically but might be mentally strong. He appealed to the Regional Co-ordinating Council (RCC) to improve the Sunyani ring roads which link to the location of the school to enable parents and guardians access the school. The Co-proprietress of the school, Mrs Mariette Christine Anne Krouwel Asagbo, who is also a philanthropist from the Netherlands, said schooling was difficult not only in Ghana but also in the Diaspora, Mrs. Asagbo added that both Ghana and Holland have signed the United Nations Convention on the Right of the Child. The convention, according to her, every child has a right to education no matter the race, colour, gender, religion, disability, birth, or other status of the child. She challenged all to avoid judging a human being by physical appearance but rather concentrate on abilities, instead of disabilities. She encouraged the parents and guardians to guide their children to become heroes and heroines in the world, the country, the city and the family. The Brong Ahafo Regional Director of the Department of Social Welfare, Madam Phyllis Emefa Senyo, commended the efforts of the proprietor and proprietress of the school for their enormous help to vulnerable and less privileged children in the region. Madam Senyo said irrespective of their background, physical, mental and behavioural disabilities and HIV/AIDS status. She urged all homes to open up to the Department anytime the need arises for their support and services. She said the Department sent children who are abused and abandoned and need care and protection to the Children�s Home in Kumasi, despite the logistical and other challenges.
