Captain's Return To Base Is Standard Practice - Starbow

Starbow Airlines has denied media reports that one of its aircrafts had to make an emergency landing at the KIA on Saturday night, saying that the pilot had rather made a prudent decision as per the airlines procedures. A statement issued to the GNA, on Monday, said the a technical problem had been detected on one of the four engines of the aircraft, BAe146 en route to Kumasi from Accra during the initial climb-out about 3,000 feet. The Captain then informed the passengers and returned the aircraft to base. Suffice to add that, the aircraft could have safely proceeded to its destination, that is, Kumasi without any hitch, but the Captain decided to return to base, Accra as per companys procedures. The Captains decision was prudent in the sense that Accra is the base of all the airlines maintenance works it explained, saying that: Contrary to media reports, there was no emergency landing and no secondary damage to the aircraft whatsoever. As a matter of fact, the landing was very normal. The airline apologized to all affected passengers on board and assured the travelling public that it would continue to strive for the highest compliance of strict airline security and safety measures at all times. Some media reports said passengers who were on board the aircraft were left traumatized after the plane caught fire mid-air and had to return to safety shortly after take-off.
