Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, on Tuesday, August 12, rounded off his tour of some registration centres in the ongoing limited voter registration exercise with a visit to the Upper West Akim, Nsawam-Adoagyiri and Abuakwa South constituencies in the Eastern Region. At Dobro, in the Nsawam-Adoagyiri constituency, Nana Akufo-Addo called on the Chief of the town, Nana Agyare II, as a mark of courtesy, before visiting the registration centre. This has been a key feature of Nana Akufo-Addo's tour in the regions he has so far visited in the monitoring exercise. Nana Agyare II thanked Akufo-Addo for his visit to Dobro, a gesture he described as "an honour to Dobro". "We need you, we desperately need you. The entire citizenry of Dobro are behind you. The hardships, rising cost of living and high levels of unemployment are too much for us to bear. Whatever we will do in 2016 to ensure that you win the election, we will do it. The youth of this town are all looking up to you to rescue them from mess the nation finds herself in," Nana Agyare II said. Re-echoing the sentiments of their Chief, hundreds of youth shouting "Nana oo Nana", "Nana we need you", "No Nana, No Vote", moved with Nana Akufo-Addo to the Dobro L/A primary school registration centre, the first centre he visited. The NPP agents, at the centre, revealed that 6 minors had attempted registering at the centre that morning, but were prevented from doing so by the NPP agents and EC registration officials. This, according to them, was the only negative development at the centre since the commencement of the registration exercise. At the Wesley Methodist Church registration centre, at Nsawam, Mr. Michael Berko, the NPP agent at the centre, told Nana that a total of 109 persons had been registered since August 3. Additionally, eligible voters had largely presented passports, drivers license and the national ID cards as proof of their eligibility. The Densuso registration centre, at Adoagyiri, was the last centre visited in the constituency. But for the minor hitch of 14 registered voters who had not received their voter ID cards due to what EC officials describe as "printer failure", NPP agents and EC officials told Nana Addo that the process had been smooth. Nana Akufo-Addo then proceeded to the Upper West Akim constituency, where he visited the Asuaba Presby Primary and Okurase L/A Primary registration centres. Just as he has done in all centres visited, Nana Addo thanked the NPP agents for the work they are doing for the party, and, in particular, reminded them to remain vigilant and ensure that only eligible voters find their names in the voter register "in these last days." At the Okurase market, Nana Addo addressed residents and urged those who had still not registered to do so before the end of the exercise on Wednesday, August 13. Acknowledging the difficult times Ghanaians are facing due to the bad governance of President Mahama and his administration, Akufo-Addo assured them of prosperity and progress when the NPP, with him as President, is returned into office in 2017. Rounding off his tour of the region, Nana Akufo-Addo visited 3 registration centres in Akyem Asafo, Asiakwa and Kyebi, all in the Abuakwa South constituency. At the Asafo Presby L/A primary registration centre, Akufo-Addo was informed that 140 odd people had registered. Likewise at the Asiakwa Supong and Kyebi Experimental registration centres polling agents and registration officials, they explained to Nana Akufo-Addo that the process had been smooth with no incidents having taken place. ‎Nana Akufo-Addo was accompanied on his tour by Kwasi Amoako-Atta, MP for Atiwa West; Frank Annoh-Dompreh, MP for Nsawam Adoagyiri; Samuel Atta Akyea, MP for Abuakwa South; Kiston Akomeng Kissi, Eastern Regional NPP Chairman; Alhaji Umar Bodinga, Eastern Regional NPP 1st Vice Chairman; Nana Fredua Ofori-Atta, Eastern Regional NPP 2nd Vice Chairperson; Kwame Appiah Kodua, Eastern Regional NPP Organiser; Jerry Osei-Poku, Eastern Regional NPP Youth Organiser; and some NPP constituency chairmen from the region. On Thursday, August 14, Nana Akufo-Addo will resume his campaign for the flagbearership of the party beginning from the Eastern Region.
