Freddie Blay Chokes On Anger, Accuses NPP Chief Scribe Of Running One-Man Show

The first vice chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Hon. Freddie Blay says he is struggling hard to contain his anger over unilateral decisions taken by party general secretary, Kwabena Agyei Agyapong and his general conduct of party affairs. Freddie Blay accuses the general secretary of managing the party as though it were his personal property and marginalising the other executives in major decisions as well as treating them with utter disregard. Freddie Blay who was speaking on Asempa FM to react to new appointments in the communications directorate of the party, said these unilateral decisions required wide consultation, and at least the other national executives ought to be in the know. The party has appointed new zonal deputy directors of communications, per letters signed by the General Secretary, which also asked its director of communications for four years, Perry Okudzeto to proceed on accumulated leave and hand over to the director of administration. Perry Okudzeto, also on Asempa FM, said while he had not applied for the leave, he was simply told in a meeting with the general secretary and national chairman that he had accumulated his leave for four years out of which the party was granting him two years leave. He claimed the only reason he was offered was that the new administration wanted to professionalise the party. He said he was prepared to take a back seat in the party. But apart from Freddie Blay, two other members of the party leadership, national organizer John Boadu and council of elders member Dr. Kwame Amoako-Tuffour, said the appointments were news to them because they had no idea what was going on. They however cautioned calm so the general secretary could explain what was happening.
