Perry Okudzeto: I Am Not Leaving NPPCertainly Not Because Of Kwabena Agyapong

Embattled Deputy Director of Communications of the opposition New Patriotic Party [NPP], Perry Okudzeto, says he is not ready to quit the elephant family because he has been forced to go on leave by the partys General Secretary, Kwabena Agyei Agyapong. According to him, despite the obvious unilateral decision, he is unperturbed and will continue to serve the party as a genuine patriot. Perry Okudzeto however expressed shock at the way and manner the decision was taken and communicated to him. I heard I was to proceed on leave last FridayI thought it was just a rumor until the front desk personnel of the office [NPP Head Office] called me this morning [August 18, 2014] to tell me I have a letter. That was the official letter for my leave though the news has been in the media since last Friday [August 15, 2014], he said. According to a letter signed by the General Secretary of the party Kwabena Agyapong, Perrys leave will take effect from Monday August, 18, 2014. You have accumulated leave for four years. However we are able to grant you two years leave. This translates into 40 working days, the letter said. You are required to prepare your handing over notes and submit to the Ag Director of Finance and Administration, the statement added. But the immediate past Director of Communications in an interview with Asempa FM said that I have been asked to proceed on leave [without any reason]. He however quickly added that I will stay back and watch proceedings of the party. When asked whether he will resign from the party, he vehemently said No. I will not quit NPP because of anyone. I am not perturbed. I have worked with most of NPPs chief scribes and have known themand I know who Kwabena Agyapong is now, he added.
