Confusion Rocks Ajumako NDC

The elections of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ajumako-Enyan-Essaim (AEE) constituency were on Friday hit with confusion when some of the aggrieved aspirants nearly prevented officials of the Electoral Commission (EC) from conducting the electoral exercise. The confusion was ignited when 12 out of the 14 aspirants observed that their positions on the ballot paper had been changed, even though they had campaigned with those positions. The angry aspirants insisted that they would not allow voting to take place since the delegates had already been made aware of the individual aspirants position on the paper in the course of the campaign. They noted that the changes would affect the voting process as some of the voters were likely to make mistakes. They later agreed on the voting upon admonitions by the partys gurus. The District EC Officer, Prosper Fiifi Kaiko, conducted the elections. The incumbent Constituency Chairman, Kobina Quansah, polled 321 to beat his contenders George Harrison and Isaac Kwame Essel who had 140 and 37 votes respectively. The Vice Chairmanship position went to Bright Aba Mensah who had 296 as against 190 by Edward Wilson; the Secretary turned out to be Andrew Doodo 261 votes against his main contender, Arhen Koomson, who polled 227 votes with Edmund Brako getting 334 to become the Deputy Secretary, defeating Emmanuel Ackom, who garnered 150 votes. Other positions were Organizer: Solomon Cobbina; Deputy Organizer: Ebenezer Morkwa; Treasurer: Samuel Adom; Deputy Treasurer, Gabriel Forson; Youth Organizer, Ernest Koranteng; Womens Organizer: Cecilia Essuman. The Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Mr. Ato Forson, who is the Deputy Finance and Economic Planning Minister and the DCE, Peter Light Koomson addressed the party faithful.
