Fire Outbreak Kills Four

Four people died from burns sustained during a domestic fire explosion in Tema Community 12, on Wednesday, the Police have said. According to the Police sources, the owner of the house Osabarima Appiah Danso, with two others named as Shepherd, Brother Kweku and an unidentified person died in the inferno which lasted for about 30 minutes. Michael Oduro Debrah, aged 24 years, son of the Landlord, and Mr. Bernard Alex Asa, aged 78 years, survived the incident and are responding to treatment at the Tema General Hospital, when the GNA visited the site of the incident. Capt Ben Duah (Rtd), Assemblyman for the area, corroborated the Police report, saying the incident happened at about 1300 hours when a gas cylinder exploded in a back house which is used for the manufacturer of tie and dye clothing. The explosion also affected about five surrounding houses rendering the occupants homeless. The Ghana National Fire Service, which brought the fire under control, collected samples from the scene to ascertain the cause of the explosion. The Ghana Police Service was also present at the scene to ensure that the items of the affected houses were protected.
