Quality Education Desire All Hands On Deck - Brig-Gen. Nunoo-Mensah

A former National Security Adviser Brigadier-General (Rtd) Joseph Nunoo-Mensah, has said quality in education can only be attained when all stakeholders played their expected roles well. He said immediately after the attainment of Independence in 1957, massive investment went into secondary and tertiary education throughout the country. Brigadier-General Nunoo-Mensah this at the inauguration of a Boy�s Dormitory block for the Winneba Senior High School constructed through his initiative with sponsorship from the Japanese Government. He said while the student population has been increasing steadily over the years, the rate of investment in the provision of educational infrastructure has not kept pace with the growth of the population. The Former Security Adviser said attempts were being made by the current administration to correct the huge imbalance in education, but have not succeeded hence the necessity for individuals and corporate institutions to support the efforts of the government in tackling the problem. Brigadier-General Nunoo-Mensah stated further that there were Ghanaians who have the means to partner government to provide quality education to the young, and added that such people must be encourage. He urged the School to use its large track of land to produce fresh vegetables and fruits to augment the feeding of the students. He encouraged the school to also go into agriculture to serve as a vehicle for the training of the students so that they will be able to manage their lives when they grow up, especially during these times where �white-colour� jobs were becoming scarce. The Security Adviser said, �We cannot continue to depend on other countries to feed us when we have the stable climatic conditions and abundant idle hand to grow a number of crops to feed ourselves and even have surpluses for export�.
