Prominent aspirant for the Greater Accra Regional Chairmanship position of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) , Henry Ekow Manly-Spain, has scored yet another point with delegates in the quest to replace incumbent, Joseph Ade Coker.

Last Thursday, the entrepreneur-cum-politician endeared himself even more by means of a hospitable gesture that he showed towards fellow candidates who had trooped to the official residence of the Greater Accra Regional Minister for vetting.

Realizing that the party had not organized food for the candidates, Mr. Manly-Spain sponsored a sumptuous lunch for them.

In all, he is estimated to have freely distributed about 900 packs of rice and chicken to candidates and their supporters who had come for the camping.

The Enquirer has heard that the supporters of the various candidates included many delegates, who could not help admiring the sense of responsibility of Mr. Manly-Spain.

That said, the very opposite was the lot of Joseph Ade Coker, the incumbent Greater Accra Regional Chairman on Thursday.

In addition to the fact that this neglect of the responsibility to provide proper hospitality led-to the candidates getting hungry, Mr. Ade Coker actually attempted to foil the good decision of Mr. Manly-Spain to feed the hungry candidates.

Immediately he realized that his main opponent has made yet another selling point with delegates , Mr. Ade Coker called in police personnel to stop the distribution of the food. To the shock of fellow candidates and their supporters, some of whom are delegates, the police unleashed by Ade Coker against the attempt to assuage their hunger started seizing the food!

So far, not a single tangible reason has come from Ade Coker to explain that embarrassment in his fellow candidates and their supporters.

Consequently, some of the rice and drinks that Henry Manly-Spain freely gifted to the candidates were spilled and wasted, even though eventually, the candidates got to have the food.

Though all the unnecessary provocation by Ade Coker, however, Mr. Manly-Spain kept his cool and, in slow of maturity, refused to react.

Rather, in an interview with The Enquirer, he called for a peaceful delegates conference.

The NDC will hold a number of conferences in October to elect new executives.

The Greater Accra Regional Chairmanship position, which is being occupied by Joseph Ade Coker, is under siege from four people.

They are, Daniel Amartey Mensah, former MCE for LECKMA, Nii Tackie Commey, former MP for Odododiodioo, Stephen Akwetey, a Cadre and Henry Ekow Manly-Spain.

Prior to the Thursday bad conduct of Ade Coker, Daniel Amartey Mensah had freely shared drinks to quench the thirst of the candidates at the vetting on Wednesday, when he had similarly realized that the incumbent chairman had not made any provision for the comfort of the candidates at the vetting.
