Nana Addo Receives More Endorsements

FIVE OUT of eight Members of Parliament, 16 regional executives and 22 out of 23 constituency chairpersons all from the Central Region have endorsed the candidature of Nana Akufo-Addo, ahead of the August 31st Special Electoral College of the party as the man to lead the NPP to victory in the December 2016 elections. Addressing delegates of the party at a packed conference hall of the Manna Heights Resort in Mankesim, on Thursday, August 21, 2014, Hon. Kwamena Bartels, a former Minister of Interior, indicated that it is obvious that on the 31st of August the person who will emerge victorious is Nana Akufo-Addo, likewise on October 18. According to Hon. Kwamena Bartels, If there is a man who has prepared himself well to lead this country and bring prosperity to Ghana, like what President Kufuor did and even more, it is Nana Akufo-Addo. From 2001, I sat with Nana Akufo-Addo in cabinet and I can say he is the most prepared candidate of the lot who now want to contest. On the claim being made by some aspirants to that they are best placed to attract floating voters, Hon. Kwamena Bartels scoffed at these claims. Some say they are the ones to attract floating voters. However, some have never even stood for a unit committee election or to be elected as an assembly man, neither have they tried contesting for a seat in Parliament. Nana Akufo-Addo is a three-time Member of Parliament and in the last election, garnered over 5 million votes. If someone can attract floating voters, certainly, it is Nana Akufo-Addo. He appealed to delegates of the region to give Akufo-Addo nothing less than 90%, to which the delegates responded No, we will give him 100%. Fred Owares endorsement Former 1st Vice Chairman of the NPP, Mr. Fred Oware, on his part, intimated that the votes cast for each candidate on August 31 ballot are already known, and on 7th January, 2017, Nana Akufo-Addo will lead this country and become our next President, with Dr. Bawumia being his Vice President. Fred Oware noted that any of the other 6 presidential aspirants contesting the NPP primary will be a better President than Mahama. However, amongst the 7, the candidate who can and who will lead the party to victory is Nana Akufo-Addo. I stand here as a delegate and I assure Nana Addo that we will make sure that, at all cost, Nana Akufo-Addo will emerge victorious. Ken Agyepong Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Hon. Ken Agyepong, endorsed the sentiments shared by Hon. Isaac Osei, MP for Subin and a former presidential aspirant of the party, who stated in an interview with Radio XYZ, on Thursday, August 21, that: It should be possible for the aspirants to wholeheartedly support the aspirant who receives the highest endorsement in the upcoming special delegates conference and go to their various constituencies to campaign for him to ensure victory for the party in 2016. He noted that everywhere he has been in Ghana, all the people are saying No Nana, No Vote. I have listened to the grassroots who say it is Nana they want. If we dont listen to them, then we are only causing problems for ourselves, he said. Hon. Ken Agyepong continued by urging delegates to unite and vote for Nana Akufo-Addo, and when he becomes President in 2017, I can assure you that all will be well with our country.
