I Will Never Support a Candidate Contesting Against a Sitting President Kofi Adams

The General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Adams has expressed sincere regrets over some decisions by the wife of Ex-President Rawlings, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings. Kofi Adams was remorseful that the former First Lady once contested the late President John Evans Atta Mills. Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, Founder and Leader of the National Democratic Party (NDP) in June 2011 nursed interest to defeat a sitting President, the late John Mills. The former First Lady described her bid to contest the late President for the NDC flagbearer as a step to eliminate the rot in the party. Though prior to the NDC Congress, Nana Konadu was reported to have rescinded her decision to contest the sitting President; the news however did not perturb her neither did it discomfit her. As she remained resolute in her Presidential battle against the sitting President and so, further submitted her nomination forms to the party in pursuit of her Presidential ambition on Wednesday, June 1, 2011. Recounting the past experiences of the NDC, the Spokesperson for the Rawlingses and NDC General Secretary, Kofi Adams sounded very apologetic about such decision by the former First Lady. According to him, he has learned a lesson from the incident that occurred during the NDC Sunyani Congress and therefore swore never to support any candidate in the party to contest any "sitting President." Speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" programme, Kofi Adams insisted that "seriously speaking, having gone through a contest where someone contested with Professor Mills and realizing the outcome and what went on after and the healing process; look, he "would never support anybody contesting a sitting President. But the question however remains; does it therefore mean Kofi Adams does not support the former First Lady's break in relations with the NDC?
