Jailbird Wins NDC Chairman

DESPITE THE hullabaloo surrounding the candidature of the Mr. Joseph Yaw Nimo, including an expos that he had served a prison term for murder, he has managed to snatch the Odotobiri constituency chairmanship from the incumbent, who revealed his prison secret. In an election supervised by the Electoral Commission at Jacobu in the Amansie Central District on Monday, Mr. Yaw Nimo pulled a record 311 votes, followed by Mr. Degraft Kwa, with 141, while the incumbent, Mr. F.O. Ankrah, trailed with 43 votes. Apart from the incumbent chairman, the rest of the executive members also lost their positions. In a telephone interview with the newly-elected constituency chairman, who had been accused by the incumbent of not being eligible to contest for the race, because of his past record as a jail bird, Mr. Nimo thanked God for the victory, and said if you are a King and you do not do your work well, your title will be revoked one day. He accused the outgoing executives of not performing their mandatory functions in their 15 years as party executives. Speaking about the results of the elections, the outgoing Chairman, F.O. Ankrah, admitted to The Chronicle that he lost the race in a free and fair manner, and had no objection to the results. The Chronicle independently gathered that the incumbent Youth Organiser, Frimpong Richard, lost to Daniel Obeng Boafo. Joseph Osei Ababuo lost the Secretary position to Isaac Osahene, as Kwadwo Gu lost his organising duties to fresh leg Jacob Bobbin. Adizatu Ibrahim whisked the deputy Women Organiser from Comfort Gyebi. On the Deputy Organiser, the incumbent, Mamoud Ahmed, lost overwhelmingly to Emmanuel Brenya, while Evans Yeboah ousted Victor Manu for the Vice Chairmanship slot.
