What Matters Is For Nana Addo To Appeal To Floating Voters Not Winning Special Electoral College - Hilda Addo

A leading member of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Hilda Addo says the massive endorsement of Nana Akufo-Addo by overseas branches of the party and huge internal support ahead of the partys Special Congress for the twice-Presidential Candidate is immaterial if it does not result in attracting the interest of floating voters to cast their vote for him (Nana Addo). Ahead of the NPPs Special Electoral College scheduled for August 31, 2014, the partys representative from the United Kingdom and Germany have made their intentions clear and declared their maximum support for Nana Akufo-Addo. Figures from a special election conducted by the United Kingdom (UK) branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) shows Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo miles ahead of the other flagbearer aspirants. But to the former NPP MP for Kwadaso Constituency in the Ashanti Region, a known Alan fanatic, those who believe in the figures being churned out by the partys overseas branches, will be living in a fools paradise. Debunking the validity of the polls from the NPP UK branch, Hon. Hilda Addo said on Okay Fms Ade Akye Abia Morning Show that the result is misleading. She pointed out that the massive promises do not translate into votes as witnessed at the Tamale Delegates Conference which pulled a lot of surprises when virtually all the incumbent executives lost their positions. I am saying if Nana Addo polls 90% at the Special Congress he has lost. And if Alan Kyerematen manages to get 60% of delegates votes, he has also lost; even if Joe Ghartey polls 30% he too has lost because this Special election does not amount to anything compared to the main contest in November. We are voting to prune down the number of candidates from seven to five before the main contest. It is the prayer of all the 7 Presidential hopefuls to be part of the final 5 selected to contest the main congress. If you win the Special Congress that does not mean you have won the main contest because the candidates will need 141,000 votes to be elected as Flagbearer of NPP. To me, if you are popular in NPP, it means nothingthe fact is we want a Flagbearer that floating voters want and who can win power for NPP. We sold Nana Addo to Ghanaians for three times but Ghanaians rejected him. All we are saying is that, we have to elect a candidate that those outside the party want and are prepared to vote for as Flagbearer of NPP. So whether majority has endorsed Nana Addo or not, the most important thing is if he (Nana Addo) polls 98% within the party, what will be the number of votes he can garner from outside the party? she quizzed.
