Theres No Need Changing Winning Team Boateng-Gyan

The National Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Yaw Boateng-Gyan, has stated that there is no need for the party to change the winning team as it prepares for the 2016 general election. He said any attempt to do experimentation could be counterproductive because the next general election would be fiercely contested. Speaking to the Daily Graphic in Accra last Tuesday, Mr Gyan said, "Unless there are very compelling reasons, I think the experienced ones amongst us from the constituency up to the national levels must be maintained." The NDC is currently organising its constituency elections which would be followed by the regional and national election. However, even before nominations for the national election are opened, some party members who have declared their intentions to contest various positions are campaigning seriously. One of them is Mr Kofi Adams, the Deputy General Secretary (Administration), who has decided to contest the national organiser position. Campaign tactics Mr Gyan questioned the campaign tactics of Mr Adams, saying his use of personal attacks and vulgar language would not help him and the cause of the party. He said for Mr Adams to accuse him as being clueless was most unfortunate. "I will not want to descend into the gutters with him but I think the records must be set straight. "I heard Mr Adams on radio saying I was clueless. This is laughable and shows he does not know the workings in the party," he said. "As National Organiser, I have always made sure that among other things, logistics reach party executive from the branch to the regional levels," he said. He also took serious view about alleged claims by Mr Adams that the NDC risked going into opposition if he (Adams) did not win the national organiser position. He said the statement was unbecoming of someone holding a national executive position in the party. Rawlings factor Mr Gyan stated that former President Jerry John Rawlings, should have advised his aide, Mr Adams, to contest the position of General Secretary of the party and not National Organiser. He said for Flt Lt Rawlings to say that Mr Adams should have been the General Secretary of the party by now, and later turn round to tell delegates to vote for him as organiser smacked of inconsistency. "I think he should have advised him to go in for the General Secretary and not the National Organiser," he said. He said his contribution to the victory of the NDC in 2008 and 2012 was unquestionable and challenged Mr Adams to prove what he contributed towards the two victories rather than trying to run him down.
