Supreme Court Election Petition Ruling Still Provokes Mixed Feelings Boakye Agyarko

Nana Akufo-Addos campaign Manager for the 2012 general elections has stated that the verdict of the election petition trial provokes mixed feelings, even a year after ruling has been read. According to Boakye Agyarko, he has not been able to recover from the shocking judgment of the Supreme Court on the contestation of the 2012 election results because it brings back mixed reactions anytime he went through the ruling. ..Anytime I read the decision of the court, I get sad, happy, and angry and disillusioned at the same time, he said on Oman FM . He also called on the nine Supreme Court Judges, who sat on the eight month long legal battle to take a step back and ask themselves if they did service to the nation. ..if they did the right thing, so be it but if not, then it is between them and their God, he said. He made these comments during a discussion on the lessons learnt from the landmark election petition hearing, which was brought before the Supreme Court by Nana Akufo-Addo, the first petitioner, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Jake Obetsebi Lamptey, the second and third petitioners respectively. The three petitioners claim gross and widespread irregularities took place in 11,916 polling stations during the 2012 elections. They were therefore calling for the annulment of 4,670,504 votes cast in those polling stations. However, the Supreme Court dismissed the petition and ruled that President John Mahama was legitimately elected. But as Ghanaians from all walks of life remember this day, Boakye Agyarko would want the Supreme Court judges to also do a sober reflection of their ruling on the case.
