The Head Pastor of Bethel Methodist Church, Kokomlemle Circuit in the Greater Accra region, Reverend Dr. Henry Ampaw Asiedu has said jealousy is an act of God bestowed on men which comes in the form of Agape love. According to him, the men in marriage and relationship who fail to exhibit jealousy do not love their wives or would be partners. He said though jealousy is not a bad habit and that God created it to go hand in hand with love, there are merits and demerits about it. According to Dr. Asiedu, who was speaking to Mr Kyere, anchor of Marima Mfa Adwene, a social programme on Asempa FM, an Accra based radio station, jealousy is the handy work of God and it was created to go along with Agape love. �The creator in His wisdom does not want any creator to worship anything apart from Him, hence the beginning of jealousy. Because His love for creation is unwarranted, He warned human beings not to worship idols, stones, rivers, mountains, trees among others,� he added. The man of God said that �whoever does contrary to that incurs the wrath of God and the punishment is enormous. Though jealousy itself in context is not a wrong thing, it must be done responsibly so that one cannot be lead to commit murder or suicide.� He cited a church member who recently on suspicion reported his wife for having extra marital affair with their twenty three-year old son, just because he spotted the boy and the mother on bed laughing, claiming the wife does not have time for him. The pastor said upon thorough investigation into the matter his outfit ascertained the fact that the man suspected the wife having extra marital affair with her own son because the wife who is also member of the church does not pay attention to him and does not perform her sexual obligation. He said that men who exhibit love for their wives are always jealous and think they must do everything to secure their women. The pastor claimed that �if your man does not exhibit any jealousy in your relationship then actually he doesn�t love you� and can discard you anytime, �jealousy is excellent when it thrives with love,� he added. He again expressed how dangerous jealousy can be and said it is unfortunate that some jealous men have either committed murder, suicide or ended up in jail. He advised that though jealousy in men cannot be eliminated totally it must be done in moderation.
