If Prez Mahama Is Insulted Everytime...How Much More You Asamoah Gyan?

Prof. Kofi Agyekum, popularly known as Opanyin Agyekum, Head of the Department of Linguistics at the University of Ghana, has condemned Baffour Gyans assault on Mr Daniel Kenu, the Ashanti Bureau Chief of the Daily Graphic newspaper. Daniel Kenu, was allegedly beaten by Baffuor Gyan, brother of Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan, and some stoutly-built men last Friday. Baffour Gyan and his gang were furious that Mr Kenu had asked Asamoah Gyan to clear the air on the disappearance of his friend and hiplife musician Castro and Janet Bandu, over which a certain group of youth had demonstrated against the player during one of the training sessions at the Baba Yara Stadium ahead of the Ghana/Uganda AFCON 2015 qualifier. Apparently Mr Kenu had wanted Asamoah Gyan to use the platform at the press soiree at the Miklin Hotel in Kumasi to clear the air on the matter. The question infuriated the Ghana captain who wanted to attack the journalist at the event. Asamoah Gyan was prevented from answering the question by president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kwesi Nyantakyi, and had to be restrained from physically attacking Daniel Kenu. Speaking to Kwami Sefa Kayi, Opanyin Agyekum suggested that if critics have been insulting and accusing President Mahama, how much more a footballer. To him, if President Mahama and other former Heads of State are able to contain those harsh criticisms, Asamoah Gyan should have known better. Opanyin Agyekum asked how many of the siblings of various heads of state had launched an attack on people who insult or accuse their brothers (heads of state). How many of President Mahamas siblings have assaulted somebody for the insults hauled at them. If all the siblings of these heads of state are to pounce on those who insult and despise them, then what will happen? It should be a lesson, he said on PEACE FM morning show Kokrokoo.
